In addition to consulting services, TCS also provides extensive passenger ground transportation training programs, courses and instructional materials to the public and private sectors, including premier driver and instructor training schools and courses / programs for shuttle, paratransit, taxi, executive sedan and limousine / chauffer industries. In addition to providing programs to transportation organizations and regulators, TCS provides direct training of for-hire drivers under contract including premier courses / schools for taxicab and other for-hire drivers. TCS also consults on taxi and other for-hire driver testing, licensing and permitting.
Charles Johnson, TCS’s president and lead consultant, began the firm in 1995 and since that time, he has consulted and provided coaching and training on more than 100 transportation projects in more than 35 U.S. states. Mr. Johnson has more than 20 years of transportation industry experience. He is a nationally recognized expert in a variety of for-hire and public ground transportation modes and transportation technologies, regulation, public-private partnering, accessibility and quality assurance and training programs. He has served as consultant on numerous economic and regulatory reports, studies and has authored numerous articles on ground transportation, and has served as an expert before numerous ground transportation regulatory bodies. His transportation regulatory expertise includes state, local and federal ground transportation regulation. Prior to forming TCS in 1995, Mr. Johnson worked in senior management at a variety of multi-mode ground transportation companies, as well as in managing a national transportation technology firm with dispatch system installations throughout the United States. In addition to consulting on regulatory and driver and management training programs, he oversees TCS’s in-house training for drivers and instructors, including numerous long and short term contracts with public and private agencies. Mr. Johnson received his Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Edwards University in Austin, Texas in 1993 graduating summa cum laude. His elective course work there emphasized public / private partnerships and contracting, in a special program in conjunction with the Sematech Consortium. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Psychology, where his coursework heavily emphasized organizational behavior and training. He has a number of other specialty training certifications in transportation related fields.
